“As the conflict in Ukraine is dramatically escalating, we urgently need to support the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. We need to help in any way possible to contain this humanitarian crisis,” says Anne-Sophie Mutter.
In the coming weeks, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement will increase its work reuniting separated families and providing food and other household items to the internally displaced. Support to health facilities will be increased, with a focus on providing supplies and equipment to care for people wounded by weapons. National Red Cross Societies will be helping to assist an initial two million people in need due to intensified hostilities in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.
Anne-Sophie Mutter has a strong association with the Red Cross, having collaborated for many years with the German Red Cross supporting projects in Romania. The quartet, also featuring Ye-Eun Choi (violin), Vladimir Babeshko (viola) and Daniel Müller-Schott (violoncello), will perform Haydn’s string quartet in E-flat Major, Op. 20, No. 1 and Beethoven’s string quartet in G Major, Op. 18, No. 2. 100% of the proceeds from the concert will go to the ICRC, and all participating artists will waive their fees.
The concert will take place in the Grand Salon of the ICRC headquarters in Geneva at 7.30pm on Sunday 6th March and will be streamed live worldwide thanks to the generous support of Myfidelio, Medici, Deutsche Telecom and LGU+
