Anne-Sophie Mutter begins with "Introduction and Rondo capriccioso" by Camille Saint-Saëns and makes the bravura piece composed for the Spanish violin virtuoso Pablo de Sarasate dance.
The violinist crowns her glamorous debut at Odeonsplatz with melodies from popular soundtracks to the "Harry Potter" films, Sydney Pollack's "Sabrina" remake and the John Updike film "The Witches of Eastwick". Film music icon John Williams has adapted his scores especially for Anne-Sophie Mutter. Finally, Shani lets the Munich Philharmonic shine in all colours with the orchestral artistry of the young Igor Stravinsky - with excerpts from the fairy-tale "Firebird" ballet. The evening ends splendidly with the hymn-like tones of the victorious prince against the evil sorcerer Kaschtschei.
Das Erste broadcasts the performance with a time delay at 9.45 pm, presented by "ttt" host Siham El-Maimouni.
