November 6, 8 pm Livestream from Berlin’s Philharmonie

2 Nov 2018 – On November 6, Deutsche Grammophon celebrates its 120-year anniversary in Berlin: Lang Lang and Anne-Sophie Mutter join the Staatskapelle Berlin under the baton of Manfred Honeck on stage at the Philharmonie in Berlin, celebrating the history and future of Deutsche Grammophon together with the gala audience. The recording company was founded in 1898 by Emil Berliner under the name Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft.

The gala concert programme includes Beethoven’s Fidelio Overture, his Romance for Violin and Orchestra in F-Major and Leonore Overture No. 3 in C-Major, as well as Mozart’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in C-Minor. The crowning highlights are John William’s Markings for Violin, Strings and Harp as well as Across the Stars (Love Theme) from Star Wars – Attack of the Clones, arranged by John Williams for Violin and Orchestra. 16 years after the film’s debut, this legendary piece shall come to life again in the world premiere in Berlin of a new arrangement for Violin and Orchestra. John Williams wrote this piece for, and devotes it to Anne-Sophie Mutter, with whom he has had a longstanding friendship.
