The Mutter Virtuosi Tour 2015

European Festivals – Video Blog The Mutter Virtuosi Tour 2015

  • World premiere: Previn, Nonet for Two String Quartets and Double Bass

  • Benefit concert in aid of the restoration of the Palace of Versailles

During the late summer of 2015 Anne-Sophie Mutter embarks upon a concert tour with current and former scholarship holders and selected young musicians for the fourth time: The Mutter Virtuosi perform on ten evenings in eight European countries. The world premiere of Sir André Previn’s Nonet for Two String Quartets and Double Bass – commissioned by the violinist for the Mutter Virtuosi and dedicated to her – marks the beginning of the tour of European Festivals on August 26, 2015 in Edinburgh. The repertoire of the concert tour also features Johann Sebastian Bach’s Double Concerto for Two Violins, Antonio Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” and Krzysztof Penderecki’s “Duo concertante per violino e contrabbasso,” another work commissioned by the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation.

This year the exclusive ensemble of soloists under Mutter’s musical leadership includes 14 string players, complemented by the Norwegian harpsichordist Knut Johannessen. In 2011 Anne-Sophie Mutter went on her first tour with her Virtuosi, followed by appearances in Asia in 2013 and in North America in 2014. Benefit concerts already formed a regular part of the ensemble programme during past tours: on September 7, 2015 the Mutter Virtuosi perform in aid of the restoration of the Palace of Versailles.
