Charlotte Melkonian, born in 2013, began playing the cello at the age of four and received her first cello lessons at the Cello Academy Hamburg and the Komitas Conservatory in Yerevan, Armenia.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\nIn addition, she has attended masterclasses with, among others, Prof. Philippe Muller, Narek Hakhnazaryan, Prof. Jens Peter Maintz, and Prof. David Geringas.
\nShe regularly participates in Prof. David Geringas\u2019s masterclasses and is mentored by him.

She has won first prizes in numerous national and international competitions, including:<\/p>\n

1st Prize and Special Prize from the European Friends of Berlin at the International Young Ludwig Competition in Berlin in 2022<\/p>\n

1st Prize with distinction at the Hamburg Instrumental Competition in 2022<\/p>\n

1st Prize at the International Geringas Cello Competition in Klaip\u0117da, Lithuania, in 2023<\/p>\n

1st Prize at the 1st Grunewald International Music Competition Berlin 2024 Charlotte was awarded the Chamber Music Encouragement<\/p>\n

Prize by the Jugend Musiziert Lower Saxony Foundation.<\/p>\n

She is also a scholarship recipient at the Liechtenstein Music Academy, where she regularly participates in intensive workshops and activities.<\/p>\n

Charlotte is one of the youngest scholarship recipients of the German Music Life Foundation. At the 2026 competition of the German Musical Instrument Fund, she won a cello by Stefano Scarampella from Mantua, dating from around 1900. In addition, she was awarded the Dr. Alexander Sikorski Scholarship from the German Music Life Foundation.<\/p>\n

Charlotte\u2019s concert activities include, among others: performances as a soloist at the Laeiszhalle and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, at the Tonhalle in Du\u0308sseldorf, at the Sommerliche Musiktage in Hitzacker, at the Kammermusiktage in Hohenems, as well as solo performances with the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra at the Konzerthaus Hannover, with the Bavarian State Orchestra in Munich, with the Sion Festival Orchestra at the Sion Violon Festival, with the G\u00f6ttingen Symphony Orchestra, and under the baton of Prof. David Geringas at the Berlin Philharmonie.<\/p>\n

In 2024, Charlotte made her debut at Carnegie Hall as a soloist with the Orchestra of St. Luke\u2019s New York.<\/p>\n

In December 2025, she performed again as a soloist at the Laeiszhalle and the Elbphilharmonie. In addition, in early December she performed as a soloist with the Baltic Sea Philharmonic on a concert tour with appearances at venues including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Liederhalle Stuttgart, the Georg Friedrich H\u00e4ndel Halle in Halle, and the HCC Hannover.<\/p>\n

At the program presentation for the \u201cHeidelberger Fru\u0308hling\u201d Festival and at the IFF anniversary concert in Hannover in 2025, Charlotte performed in a duo with Igor Levit.<\/p>\n

In March 2026, she performed a duo recital with pianist Elisabeth Brau\u00df at the \u201cHeidelberger Fru\u0308hling\u201d festival.<\/p>\n

Since 2026, Charlotte has been the youngest scholarship recipient of the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation.<\/p>\n

In June 2026, Charlotte will perform as a soloist at the \u201cConcert for Humanity\u201d benefit concert with the Kiev Symphony Orchestra at the Elbphilharmonie.<\/p>\n

Under the baton of Robert Trevino, Charlotte will open the Usedom Music Festival in September 2026.<\/p>\n

She will also perform at this year\u2019s Gezeiten Festival.<\/p>\n

Hwayoon Lee<\/h2>

Technische Virtuosit\u00e4t machte Hwayoon Lee (*1996) schon als Kind in Korea auf der Bratsche gro\u00dfen Spa\u00df, doch dass sie schon mit neun Jahren mit ihrem Lehrer Sang-Jin Kim in Seoul \u00f6ffentlich Kammermusik spielte, ist vor allem auch auf ihre starke B\u00fchnenpr\u00e4senz und k\u00fcnstlerische Sensibilit\u00e4t zur\u00fcckzuf\u00fchren. Hwayoon Lee kontaktierte Anne-Sophie Mutter im Jahr 2011 in einem Brief, der zu einer der entscheidenden musikalischen Begegnungen ihres Lebens f\u00fchren sollte. Mutter und ihre Stiftung erm\u00f6glichten der jungen Bratschistin wichtige musikalische Impulse und Erkenntnisse, u.a. bei Studienreisen nach Wien und Bonn. Die Stiftung erm\u00f6glichte Hwayoon Lee nach Abschluss ihres Studiums in Seoul ein Aufbaustudium an der Kronberg Akademie bei Nobuko Imai (2017 \u2013 2019) und das Konzertexamen bei Hartmut Rohde (2019-2023) an der Universit\u00e4t der K\u00fcnste in Berlin. Zahlreiche Preise weisen darauf hin, dass ihr Weg unter den BratschistInnen unserer Zeit ein ganz besonderer ist.<\/p>

Seit 2012 ist Hwayoon Lee Mitglied des Solisten-Ensembles Mutter\u2019s Virtuosi von Anne-Sophie Mutter. Mit diesem Ensemble unternahm sie zahlreiche Tourneen. Die j\u00fcngste Tournee f\u00fchrte sie mit Mutter\u2019s Virtuosi im Januar 2023 von Island \u00fcber Kanada in die USA sowie im Sommer 2023 in zahlreiche europ\u00e4ische St\u00e4dte. Gemeinsam mit Anne-Sophie Mutter nahm sie 2017 das \u201eForellenquintett\u201c von Schubert auf. 2026 wird sie die \u201eKinderszenen\u201c von Yie-eun Chun, ein Auftragswerk der Anne-Sophie Mutter Stiftung, urauff\u00fchren.<\/p>

Hwayoon Lee arbeitet regelm\u00e4\u00dfig als Solistin mit Orchestern zusammen, so bereits 2014 mit den Bamberger Symphonikern unter Manfred Honeck (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarts \u201eSinfonia Concertante\u201c). 2023 hat Hwayoon Lee mit dem Nationalorchester Koreas das Bratschenkonzert \u201eEarth Poem\u201c (2023) von Shin-uh Lee im Nationaltheater Koreas aufgef\u00fchrt (Aufzeichnung durch Arte TV Korea). Mit der gleichen Komponistin hatte sie im Dezember 2022 eine Englandtournee mit dem Werk \u201eMoon Jar Poem\u201c unternommen, u.a. zum Jubil\u00e4um der British-Koreanischen Freundschaft in London im Rahmen des Loewe Craft Prize. Im Oktober 2023 spielte sie mit Anne-Sophie Mutter im Schloss Nymphenburg zum Geburtstag des Herzogs Franz von Bayern; im November 2023 trat sie im Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam auf und gab in der Liederhalle Stuttgart mit dem Pianisten Thomas Hoppe ein privates Rezital. 2023 trat sie ferner beim Seoul Spring Festival, dem Kronberg Academy Festival und dem Crescendo Festival der UdK Berlin auf.<\/p>

Zum Seoul Spring Festival kehrt sie auch 2024 zur\u00fcck; ferner tritt sie beim Musik Festival Radebeul und in Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart auf. Im Juni 2024 wird Hwayoon Lee mit dem UdK Orchester unter der Leitung von Hartmut Rohde Alfred Schnittkes \u201eMonolog\u201c f\u00fcr Viola und Streichensemble auff\u00fchren.<\/p>

Seit August 2023 stellt die Anne-Sophie Mutter Stiftung Hwayoon Lee die ber\u00fchmte \u201eCheremetev\u201c-Bratsche zur Verf\u00fcgung. Diese wurde 1865 in der Pariser Werkstatt von Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume gebaut. Hwayoon Lee spielt einen Bogen von Benoit Rolland, ebenfalls eine Leihgabe der Anne-Sophie Mutter Stiftung.<\/p>
