Sakura Toba<\/h2>\n

Sakura Toba was born into a family of professional musicians in Vienna, Austria, in 2005.\u2028<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

In 2018, she won a gold medal at the 18th Izuminomori Junior Cello Competition in Japan, and a bronze medal at the 19th International \u201cNutcracker\u201d Televised Contest for Young Musicians, held in Moscow, Russia.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

In October of that year, she performed at Suntory Hall with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Ryusuke Numajiri, as soloist in Tchaikovsky’s “Variations on a Rococo Theme\u201d . Since then she has performed with Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Gunma Symphony Orchestra, City of Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa, Yokohama Sinfonietta, Mt. Fuji Philharmonic Orchestra, and Vienna Chamber Orchestra working with conductors Koichiro Harada, Naoto Otomo, Junichi Hirokami, Joji Hattori, Takeshi Ooi, Kazuki Yamada, Kosuke Tsunoda, Nodoka Okisawa, Taichi Deguchi, Gen Ohta and Stephanie Childress. She has also appeared at Tokyo Spring Festival and many other recital, and in 2020 was heard on NHK-FM\u2019s Classical Program “Recital Passio.\u201d \u2028 \u2028<\/p>\n

Sakura plays on a cello made by Jean Baptiste Vuillaume \u00e1 Paris Rue Croix des Petits Champs 1840, which is on loan from the Anne-Sophie Mutter foundation. Sakura has toured with the “Mutter’s Virtuosi” in June and September 2023 in Europe.<\/p>\n

In October 2025 she will make her debut as a soloist with the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo with Anton\u00edn Dvo\u0159\u00e1k’s Cello Concerto.<\/p>\n

Sakura began studying the cello at the age of six with Hakuro Mori. She has also attended master classes by Antonio Meneses and David Geringas at the Chigiana Summer Music Academy. She is a recipient of the 50th Ezoe Memorial Recruit Foundation scholarship (since 2021) and the 2021\uff062022 ROHM Music Foundation scholarship.\u2028<\/p>\n

\u2028She is currently studying at Berlin University of Arts with Prof. Jens-Peter Maintz from October 2022.<\/p>\n

Sakura Toba<\/h2>

Sakura Toba wurde 2005 in Wien, \u00d6sterreich, geboren und begann ihr Cellostudium im Alter von sechs Jahren bei Hakuro Mori an der Toho Universit\u00e4t in Tokio.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

Sakura gab ihr erstes Solokonzert im M\u00e4rz 2019. Im Oktober desselben Jahres trat sie in der Suntory Hall mit dem Japan Philharmonic Orchestra unter der Leitung von Ryusuke Numajiri als Solistin in Tschaikowskys \u201eVariationen \u00fcber ein Rokoko-Thema\u201c auf. Seitdem konzertierte sie mit dem Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, dem Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, dem City of Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, dem Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, dem Gunma Symphony Orchestra, der Yokohama Sinfonietta, dem Mt. Fuji Philharmonic Orchestra und dem Wiener Kammerorchester in Zusammenarbeit mit den Dirigenten Koichiro Harada, Naoto Otomo, Junichi Hirokami, Joji Hattori, Takeshi Ooi, Kazuki Yamada, Kosuke Tsunoda, Nodoka Okisawa, Taichi Deguchi, Gen Ohta und Stephanie Childress. Ebenso war sie beim Tokyo Spring Festival und 2020 im Klassikprogramm \u201eRecital Passio\u201c von NHK-FM zu h\u00f6ren.<\/p>

Im November 2019 wurde ihr der \u201e2. Shinji Hattori Music Award\u201c verliehen.<\/p>

Sie besuchte Meisterkurse bei Antonio Meneses und David Geringas an der Chigiana Summer Music Academy und sie ist Stipendiatin der 50th Ezoe Memorial Recruit Foundation (seit 2021). 2021und 2022 erhielt sie ein Stipendium der ROHM Music Foundation.<\/p>

Sakura Toba war mit Anne-Sophie Mutter und \u201eMutter's Virtuosi\u201c im Juni und September 2023 bei zahlreichen Konzerten in Europa auf Tournee.<\/p>

Im Oktober 2025 debutiert sie mit dem Cellokonzert von Anton\u00edn Dvo\u0159\u00e1k als Solistin des NHK-Sinfonieorchester in Tokio.<\/p>

Seit Oktober 2022 studiert sie an der Universit\u00e4t der K\u00fcnste Berlin bei Prof. Jens-Peter Maintz.<\/p>
