Six concerts in Austria, Germany and UK
Following a joint rehearsal period in Berlin, the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra will perform with Anne-Sophie Mutter under the direction of Maestro Daniel Barenboim at a total of six venues. For the first time, these include the Musikfest Bremen with a concert on August 7, followed by performances at the Waldbühne in Berlin, the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, at the Rheingau Musik Festival in Wiesbaden, and at the Salzburg and Lucerne festivals.
The program will pair Johannes Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D major op. 77 with either Franz Schubert’s Sinfonie Nr. 8 C-Dur D 944 or with Arnold Schoenberg’s Pelleas und Melisande – Symphonic poem inspired by Maurice Maeterlinck op. 5.
