BIOGRAFIE
Let the Music unite the World.
Klangdokumente.

HELLO
WORLD
Happy Birthday, dear Daniel! It is always a unique joy and inspiration to make music with you.
Your West-Eastern Divan Orchestra is a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when we communicate on and off stage, share our different viewpoints, and realize that we all have the same needs, dreams, and rights.

Still under the impression of the extraordinary concert I heard yesterday, I would like to share some thoughts with you all, my dear friends and fans.
@lahav.shani, @igorpianist, and @israel_philharmonic played Beethoven and Tchaikovsky at the @isar.philharmonie in Munich, and I was deeply shaken by the emotional power and the connection they were able to create through their playing. Being German, hearing their Beethoven, the composer who, like no one else, embodies humanity and brother- and sisterhood, once more raised the awareness in me of how music is able to connect humans beyond all cultural and other differences.
The Israel Philharmonic itself was born out of this very spirit: founded in 1936 by violinist Bronisław Huberman, who gathered Jewish musicians from European orchestras at a time of growing persecution. Created out of individual vision rather than by an institution, it was an act of courage that gave art and humanity a new home in a time of darkness.
As a musician, I wish for nothing more than to open and enlarge a space where all come together and create deeply emotional collective memories.
Lahav Shani and his Israel Philharmonic Orchestra did this in a way that still leaves me speechless and nourishes my deepest wish and lifelong dream - that of a world where more of us are aware of the unifying power of music, an essential part of humanity to express and share one’s deepest soulful moments.
Spent my final moments in Copenhagen with a little Q&A, answering your questions about my latest recordings, the bows I use, and my experiences collaborating with Herbert von Karajan!
So excited for tonight’s performance in Aarhus. Fun fact: I actually opened the hall there back in 1982 with the Brahms Concerto. Such a beautiful venue!

Getting ready for tonight’s concert with the @drsymfoniorkestret and @fabioluisiconductor at the DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen!
We’ll be celebrating the orchestra’s 100th anniversary with Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and Brahms’s Symphony No. 2.
Tonight’s concert will be broadcast live on Danish Radio (Torsdagskoncerten, DR LYD -> find the link in my story) and our Beethoven will also be shown in cinemas across Denmark in weeks 4 and 5 of 2026. 🎻

Leipzig is one of the coolest places: full of music history, great parks and coffee shops, super chill and kind people, and everyone seems to be a music lover! ❤️

It was a particular pleasure and honor to play a benefit concert together with Elena Bashkirova and @pabloferrandez.cellist at the beautiful Gewandhaus in Leipzig for the @mendelssohnhaus_leipzig.
Remember: Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy was the Gewandhaus conductor for 12 years and founded Germany’s first conservatory, the Leipzig Conservatory, in 1843, so that people from all walks of life could have access to music.
Mendelssohn was not only a genius composer but also a poet and writer, having written over 7,000 letters during his short life. We should also not forget that he was the one who resurrected the great Johann Sebastian Bach, conducting the famous St. Matthew Passion in 1829, about 80 years after Bach’s death, thus inspiring a true Bach renaissance.
Playing this benefit concert and meeting Michael Blumenthal was truly one of the highlights of this year’s concert calendar.
