September 6, 2020 Staatsoper für Alle

Aug. 18, 2020 – 2020 is Ludwig van Beethoven’s anniversary year – and so the Staatskapelle Berlin’s great open-air concert on September 6 is also dedicated to him. Anne-Sophie Mutter plays Beethoven’s Romances for Violin and Orchestra, and Daniel Barenboim conducts these two concert pieces, just like the monumental Symphony No. 9 with its haunting appeal to humanity and its utopian character pointing a way towards a better future.

This year, seating on Bebelplatz is limited due to the coronavirus crisis. Approximately 2,000 persons will be able to attend the popular event in person. Therefore, it is necessary to book a free ticket. The 2020 concert is dedicated to people working in essential professions, as a symbol of special gratitude. A contingent of tickets will be available to those persons in advance. The remaining tickets can be booked from August 20, 2020 onwards via the website of the Staatsoper.

Anyone who has not managed to secure one of the coveted tickets, however, can still follow the open-air concert live. As in years past, “Staatsoper für alle” will be broadcast live on the websites of the Staatsoper and Staatskapelle Berlin and via ZDF Kultur. In addition, the concert will be recorded by ZDF and broadcast nationwide on September 13 at 10:15 pm.
